Canyon Vista Recovery Center, formerly known as Women in New Recovery (WINR) is a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Mesa, Arizona that provides treatment services to adults for substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. The mission at Canyon Vista Recovery Center is to address all aspects of clients’ recovery and help them start a new life through comprehensive treatment services. The center offers a full continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient, and extended care treatment programs. The center provides a conducive environment where clients can embark on the road to recovery and help them transition to a life of sobriety. The treatment programs utilize holistic approaches which help clients learn new life skills, boost their self-esteem, and rebuild relationships severed by the negative effects of addiction. The 12-step meetings are an integral part of treatment at Canyon Vista which help clients interact with like-minded people in recovery. Through evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, and cognitive processing therapy for trauma, clients are able to learn the tools required to live a fulfilling and productive life. The center also offers ongoing recovery support to its alumni members for a whole year after their treatment commences to help them prevent relapse and maintain recovery.

Housing and Food

Canyon Vista Recovery Center is located in the heart of historic Mesa which is a suburb of Phoenix. The beautiful campus comprises seven spacious gender-specific homes for clients and one building that houses the administrative offices. The buildings are nestled between beautiful lawns and trees that offer a peaceful and private environment to clients. Each house has seven bedrooms and three bathrooms. Each bedroom is shared by two clients and is furnished luxuriously with twin beds, side tables, night stands, bookshelves, and closets. Each house has a common room furnished with comfortable sofas and a flat-screen TV. The campus offers a number of outdoor recreational activities to clients. These include walks and strolls in the lawns, relaxing on the courtyards, sports, yoga, and meditation. Each house has a fully-equipped kitchen where meals are prepared three times a day. Clients prepare breakfast for themselves under the supervision of the kitchen staff. The kitchen staff prepares lunch and dinner for residents of that house. Special efforts are made to ensure that all meals are healthy, nutritious, and balanced. Meals are served in the dining room of each house where all residents eat together. Special dietary restrictions/specifications of clients are also taken into consideration.

Clinical Director

Lisa has a Master’s degree in Social Work from Arizona State University. She has over 18 years of experience working with individuals of different age groups suffering from substance abuse and mental health disorders. She is a Licensed Social Worker who specializes in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing during treatment of clients.

Dr. Roland Segal
Staff Psychiatrist

Dr. Segal received his medical education from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine, Tucson. He completed his residency at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix. He completed his fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He is double-board certified in general and forensic psychiatry.

Dr. Ehab Abdallah
Staff Psychiatrist

Dr. Ehab received his medical degree from Alexandria University, Egypt. He completed his residency in psychiatry at West Virginia University. He is board-certified in general psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and addiction psychiatry. His areas of expertise include treating individuals with complex psychiatric illnesses.
