Beit T’Shuvah Overview

Located in the city of Los Angeles, California, Beit T’Shuvah is a residential addiction recovery, congregation, and educational center for men and women suffering from substance abuse issues. The congregation began in 1987 in the form of a small Friday night service which took place in the backyard of a halfway house and involved eight men under the supervision of Mark Borovitz. Today, Mark Borovitz is now a Rabbi and assists the congregation in providing assistance for more than 300 families. In its philosophy, the center believes that addiction is the evidence of a divided self and a means of providing a temporary sense of well-being. The facility offers a spiritual, faith-based approach to treatment incorporating creative arts, psychotherapy, and the 12-step program. Additionally, the center engages its members in Jewish study, discussions, prayer, and meditation. Programs offered are individualized to suit the needs and wants of each patient and take place in a protected and safe environment. Among the levels of care, the facility provides a residential treatment program, an extended care, and an aftercare program. Beit T’Shuvah Advantages

The treatment center is very religious and dedicates Friday and Saturday mornings to Shabbat services and this shows the uniqueness of the treatment community. The facility has an area regarded as a sanctuary where these services and celebrations take place. This service is available to both current residents and alumni, where they can gather and have spirited celebrations. These events typically attract approximately 300 people as the organization offers dinner to individuals after the evening service and live music is also featured for entertainment.
Programs and services such as the BTS Thrift Store, Music in Recovery, Partners in Prevention, Career Center Services, Clinical Training Programs, Surf Therapy, and more are offered in addition to the already comprehensive program.
Despite its flexibility and deep Jewish religious roots, the facility offers good care at a cost that fits its offer, as well as accepts Disability money, SSI money, Unemployment Checks, and more if there is an open space, basically, the facility will find ways to make sure that clients are admitted.
Clients seeking a facility where religious beliefs are encouraged in an environment that promotes creativity and complete wellness will find Beit T’Shuvah to be a good option.
