Silver Hill Hospital, located in the state of Connecticut and founded in the year 1931, is a non-profit, private hospital that offers treatment for adolescents, teenagers and adults struggling with substance abuse problems or psychiatric issues. The facility received its accreditation in 1962 and has been steadfast in its commitment to improving the experience of patients who choose to seek their help. The facility prides itself on making patients feel safe and comfortable by providing them with three levels of care on the property which include: inpatient treatment (with emphasis on safe detox which can last up to five days, diagnosis and management of medication), transitional living programs which seek to help patients continue their process of recovery until they are healthy enough to return to their homes for more treatment, and outpatient treatment ( a program for individuals who live in their homes but require treatment from substance abuse or mental health problems) designed to help patients maintain their sobriety. Accommodation & Schedules

Silver Hill Hospital boasts of a 43-acre campus that feels less like an actual hospital and more like a normal university campus. All rooms on the campus are designed to accommodate two people although private accommodation can be arranged for a higher cost. Casual clothes (e.g. a pair of jeans, sweatpants, t-shirts), important toiletries (toothbrush and deodorant), and a maximum of $30 to be held by the patient are approved by the facility. Food from outside, belts, DVDs, smartphones and revealing clothing are not. Meals served at the facility are meticulously planned and well balanced and involve: breakfast is usually served at 8:30 am, lunch at 1:30 pm, and dinner around 6:15 pm. The hospital has a well-equipped gym which patients can often visit; recovery, wellness, and group therapy during the day and visiting hours for patients who are interested in seeing immediate family.

The facility offers three levels of care for its patients. These include:

Inpatient Treatment

In this first stage of treatment, patients are admitted for a detoxification process which is designed to be safe but effective. The hospital pays special attention to the patient and gives them the individualized care they need. Treatment of co-occurring disorder can take place at this stage if necessary.

Transitional Living Programs

This is the next stage for patients in the recovery process and seeks to help patients attain a thorough understanding of their condition and the steps and skills required to manage it. Here, patients are offered the chance to live in a homely environment while receiving the care they need.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment

The hospital offers an outpatient program for patients who do not an inpatient level or residential form of treatment but need help recovering from any kind of mental health struggle or addiction and maintaining their sobriety. Participants are required to visit the hospital 2-3 times a week for six weeks for a three-hour group therapy session.
