The health center specializes in treating dual diagnosis disorders such as adjustment disorder, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD and schizoaffective disorder. Housing and Food at Cove Forge

Cove Forge Behavioral Health Center is located in the beautiful countryside of Williamsburg, Pennsylvania. It is spread across a vast land of 75 acres of beautiful green grounds and a lake surrounded by thick trees. The building is built in stone and wood architecture with modern interiors. The facility has a capacity for 175 patients. There are separate lodging areas for men and women. Two to three patients share a room which is furnished like college dorm rooms. The facility houses a gym where patients exercise according to the time provided in their schedule. Options for outdoor activities are provided in the form of a ropes course and walking trail. The facility has a serene outdoor setting with sitting areas located along the beautiful lake inside the campus. The green lawns and peaceful environment offers a perfect place for meditation and contemplation. There is a single cafeteria where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served. Snacks are also available in the cafeteria at other times. The cafeteria has separate dining areas for male and female patients. A variety of food options are available in the buffet style meals including desserts at lunch and dinner time. Salad bars are also provided at lunch and dinner.

The admissions office is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for assistance in admission and financial manners. Thomas J. Callahan, MA, LPC, CAADC, CCS
Executive Director

Thomas Callahan has been serving Cove Forge for the last 16 years. He has a Master’s Degree in Counseling. He is licensed by the state of Pennsylvania and is a Certified Addiction Counselor, Co-Occurring Disorders Counselor and Clinical Supervisor. He has over 30 years of experience working in the field of addiction and behavioral health.

Donna Bookhammer, CADC, CCDP, ICCDP, CTRTC
Clinical Director

Donna has been part of Cove Forge staff for the last 25 years. She has served as a Counselor, Mental Health Counselor and Family Program Director before being promoted to Clinical Director. She is certified by the state of Pennsylvania as a Co-Occurring Disorder Professional, a certified Addictions Counselor and also certified through the Glasser Institute in Choice Theory/Reality Therapy. She is attached with the H.O.P.E. Program and the Dual Diagnosis Program at Cove Forge.

John T. Symons, MD
Regional Medical Director

Dr. Symons has a Medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Practice at Altoona Hospital. He joined Cove Forge in 2010 where he was promoted to Medical Director in 2012. He is certified by the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
