Douglas Place is addiction treatment facility that operates under the Meridian Behavioral Health network’s umbrella since 1995. It is located in the East Grand Forks in a facility that used to be a hotel.

The center has 85 beds and clients stay in gender-specific rooms. Common area includes male and female lounges with couches, chairs, and TV. Recreational room includes foosball, pool table, and another TV. Clients can workout in the fully-equipped gym. Also, the center has a library for group meetings and quiet reading.

Meals are being prepared on-site, and they are served cafeteria-style. If needed, special dietary restrictions can be taken into account.

Treatment includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. The center is not based on 12-step philosophy, but clients are encouraged to go to AA or NA meeting a few times a week. Also, transportation to the meeting is provided to off-site meetings once a week.

The center’s staff counts 60 members including nurses, medical doctors, psychiatrists, counselors, and therapists.

Douglas Place offers art and music therapy, offsite movie nights, hiking, and softball. Patients are encouraged to organize events such as karaoke. The center also provides trauma therapy for those in need.

The day at the center starts at 7 AM with breakfast. Group meetings start at 8 AM. Lunch is served at noon, and it is followed by more therapy sessions. Dinner is served at 5 PM. When the last meeting is completed, clients have some free time before the lights are out at 10 PM.

Visitations are allowed on Saturdays from 12 PM to 4 PM.

The length of the treatment varies from 21 to 90 days.
