Overview of Project WARM

Project WARM is a residential behavioral healthcare program housed in what was earlier the Vince Carter Sanctuary. Named after the famous NBA all-star who help set it up, the facility was an upscale treatment center that got repurposed into a state-funded rehabilitation center. The treatment center is situated about 10 miles away from Daytona Beach in Bunnell, Florida.
Project WARM is an acronym for Women Assisting Recovery Mothers. As the name implies, the facility serves substance abuse victims who are pregnant women, postpartum or parenting young children. The residential track offered here ensures that children are provided with daycare support while their mothers undergo rehabilitation and therapy.
All residents are housed in apartment units that ensure that they have a level of independence and private alone time to spend with their babies or toddlers. The aim of the initiative is to empower these women and enable to the reintegrate back into society as fully functioning adults. To this effect, the team at the treatment center provides every client with individualized plans to better address their specific needs.

Accommodation and Food

The residential facilities at Project WARM are capable of housing a maximum of 16 residents at a time. While 10 of these beds are provided in a dormitory style setting while the remaining 6 are set up in private units. All the bedrooms come furnished with basic furniture including twin-sized beds and storage space in the form of cupboards. The residential quarters are also equipped with common rooms for residents to socialize.
The dining area serves as a common space for everyone to eat together. Residents are provided with a predetermined amount of money to spent on weekly supervised outings to the grocery store where they can choose and buy ingredients. They can then choose to plan and cook their meals individually or in groups. They are allowed to purchase snacks and coffee on their store runs. This system allows every resident to be involved in managing every aspect of their own meals.

The specialized treatment programs provided to clients at the facility are immersed in 12 step philosophy. They also incorporate the tried and tested evidenced-based techniques along with various other therapeutic approaches. These treatment methods are all bundled into specialized programs that are tailor-made to each individual client’s particular needs.
The facility only offers rehabilitation in a residential setting with no outpatient support. The programs are most suited to those who require intensive care and closer supervision for themselves as well as for their young children. Some of the treatment options offered here are:

Payment Options and Insurances

Project WARM is run by the Stewart-Marchman-Act or SMA Behavioral Healthcare which provides residential rehabilitation and treatment to adolescent and adult victims of substance abuse. They also provide crisis shelters and supportive housing to children and their parents. As part of this non-profit organization, Project WARM is fully state-funded and charges no treatment fees instead offering all their services free of cost.

Project WARM Amenities

The residential track at this facility lasts for a duration of 90 to 180 days. This comparatively longer-term rehabilitation program is devised to combat alcohol and drug dependency in expecting women and new mothers. Furthermore, they also seek to help expecting or new mothers to acclimatize to having a baby while educating them on healthy parenting techniques.
All this ensures that female substance abuse victims are equipped with all the tools to develop functional family units that are physically and mentally healthy. To this effect, every resident undergoes a special education program that teaches them anger management and parenting techniques.
That the facility does not charge its clients any treatment fees makes them extremely accessible. This is especially so for economically vulnerable mothers who may otherwise forego treatment due to lack of means.
