Stepping Stone Treatment Center Overview

The Stepping Stone Treatment Center, a private, non-profit facility for persons dealing with substance use and mental health disorders, is located in the city of Joliet, Illinois. The center has been serving the people of Will County since 1971 and was brought to life from the vision of some Alano Club members and with the help of the Joliet City government. This collaboration led to the construction of the Joliet Halfway House which became the Stepping Stones, Inc. in 1991. Over the years, the facility has expanded to provide services for a wider range of age groups. The facility offers a person-centered approach to treatment whereby treatment programs are highly personalized and counselors engage with the client and their loved ones to design an effective treatment plan. The facility has an experienced team of consultants—medical, psychiatric, dietary, psychological—and addiction counselors. The center encourages a patient’s family members and loved ones to be involved in their recovery process and also offers them a chance to better themselves by participating in self-help and support groups. The facility provides several levels of care including intensive residential treatment, recovery homes, outpatient treatment, and extended residential care. Additionally, the treatment center provides care for pregnant women and adults dealing with co-occurring mental health issues.
