Counseling For Change Program

After this first initial stage, the client is assigned a counselor who will perform a formal assessment to determine the appropriate treatment as all plans are individualized. Clients in the intensive outpatient program meet three times weekly for group meetings, and the regular outpatient program clients meet twice a week for group meetings. Group meetings offered for both groups usually varies greatly in attendance as persons per group can range from eight to eighteen clients per group meeting. Issues discussed during these meetings include relapse prevention, education, sharing, and utilizing evidence-based protocols. The duration of these meetings can run from 1 hour to 2 hours per meeting and are offered at any time during the day within the hours of 9 am and 7 pm. Counselors at the facility use different methods to help address the client’s individual needs including implementing Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
Counselors also offer individual meetings to clients on request or if needed by the client. Drug screening can take place at any time within the duration of the program and it occurs randomly. Some counselors implement the traditional 12-step treatment methods if it is believed to be to the client’s advantage. Counselors strongly encouraged registered in the program to attend outside Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
Although the facility does not offer treatment for dual diagnosis, therapists and counselors can refer individuals in need of such to outside counselors or treatment facilities.
