Located in the town of Newburgh, Indiana and not far from Evansville, Brentwood Springs is a recently built behavioral hospital which is part of the Springstone network of facilities that began in 2010. The hospital offers adults struggling with substance dependency and mental health problems the chance to recover in a safe and comfortable environment with a patient-centric approach to treatment. Additionally, the hospital provides an individualized form of care whereby a patient’s treatment and plan and their length of stay at the hospital depends on needs and goals. The facility offers a short-term inpatient, partial hospitalization, and an intensive outpatient program which may include holistic (yoga, music, art, and pet therapy are very encouraged) and solution-focused forms of therapy. Medically-assisted detoxification and dual diagnosis treatment for individuals battling co-occurring disorders are also made available. The hospital offers alumni support programs which seek provide support for individuals who have completed their personalized recovery treatment but still need help transitioning back into their communities. Brentwood provides behavioral health care with the help of a multidisciplinary team of medical staff which consists of nurses, physicians, psychiatrists, expressive and recreational therapists, and Patient Care Assistants (PCA’s). Housing and Food at Brentwood Springs

The hospital is located a few miles from Evansville and has the capacity to accommodate up to 48 residents. Patients in the residential program are accommodated in semi-private rooms with a two-person capacity. Each room has two twin-sized beds, a private bathroom and patients are given their own desks and closet space. The hospital has a theater-style classroom, a thoroughly handicap-accessible environment, fitness and activity centers, and snack stations. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the hospital cafeteria three times a day and drinks and snacks are available to all clients before, during, and after meals. The hospital’s dietary program is well planned, meals are balanced and required to meet dietary requirements, and a certified dietician provides consultation for meal planning. Special diets are accommodated for at the facility.
Residents are provided with toiletries but are not prohibited from bringing their own as long as they are alcohol-free. Residents are also encouraged to bring about five sets of clothes which should include a sweater, comfortable shoes, and sleepwear. Alcohol, offensive or inappropriate clothing, and products in aerosol cans are prohibited. There are outdoor smoking areas and patients with outdoor privileges may be allowed to use them.

Inpatient Treatment

The hospital offers an inpatient program for adults between the ages of 18 and above suffering from psychiatric, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. In this form of treatment, residents receive a combination of therapies, behavioral and holistic, and may also receive medically-assisted detoxification if necessary. Recreational activities, educational programs, mediation, and dual diagnosis support are also offered here.

Partial Hospitalization Program

This is a recovery-focused, daytime or evening program which offers adults the chance to continue with their work or school schedules while still receiving treatment for addiction and mental or behavioral problems. Treatment may consist of group and holistic therapy, counseling, and medication management.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment

The hospital offers an intensive outpatient program near Evansville for individuals who need treatment for mental health and addiction afflictions but not require intensive care. The program has a special track for mental health and another for substance abuse. Therapy, relapse prevention, and skill acquisition may be offered at this stage.

The payment made only covers feeding and housing and is for only 5 to 10 days as the facility does not offer a longer stay. The duration of stay is mostly on a basis of case-by-case. The facility offers programs for clients that are done with the inpatient program or clients not willing to stay in the treatment center such as; the partial hospitalization which costs $360 for an average stay of 10 days and the intensive outpatient program which costs $270 for an average stay of 10 days as well. Although the facility is just between 7 – 8 years old, it is a subsidiary of Springwood Hospitals which has a very good reputation. The facility offers a comprehensive program both in the group and individualized treatment, for mental health and substance abuse disorders while incorporating the 12-step programs as well. However, the cost of treatment is relatively expensive as it is a hospital; clients buoyant enough to afford it will experience a very comprehensive and attentive approach to complete recovery.
