The Morton Center Overview

The Morton Center, located in Louisville, Kentucky, is an outpatient treatment center that provides adequate care to individuals with substance abuse and mental health issues. The facility offers a 14,500 square-foot building with essential amenities as its headquarters. The facility’s treatment approach places a high emphasis on evidence-based treatment and 12 steps therapies, and also treats individuals as a whole; mind, body, and soul. This program covers mental, spiritual, and emotional angles as well as, giving individuals the tools needed to live a life of long-term sobriety.
The facility offers treatment to both adolescents and adults, offering suitable programs specific to their needs. The treatment center believes strongly in family involvement and as such family members and children of loved ones are strongly encouraged to participate in the recovery process. Cognitive behavioral therapy and Dialectical behavioral therapy are some evidence-based treatment modalities used in treating clients as well as 12-steps. Although the facility does not offer residential or inpatient treatment, different levels of care for intensive outpatient and outpatient programs are offered to clients. These services offered can range from an education program, intensive outpatient program, and even weekly therapy groups (as a step down from IOP). Clients seeking or in need of a detox after evaluation, are recommended and referred to an outside facility for such treatment to be done, as it is not offered at the facility.
All clients are required to undergo this evaluation, as it helps therapists and counselors understand the issue and discover the best services to treat this disorder. During this evaluation, multiple information is discovered such as strengths, preferences, unique needs, abilities, stress triggers, and many more. Other factors such as work history, education, past relationships, and many more may be taken into consideration as well. After the assessment is completed, clients are given a diagnosis and assigned a place by a qualified counselor.
The facility offers an Adult and Adolescent Early Recovery Program as an alternative to inpatient or residential care. This version of an intensive outpatient program is offered four times weekly and sessions last for three hours in the evenings and mornings, Mondays through Thursdays. These sessions include individual therapy, education, and even group counseling. During group counseling, the facilitator focuses on issues such as anger management, trauma, relapse prevention, and life skills. As individuals progress in treatment, sessions, and therapy gradually reduce. There is no set time for completion of treatment as no two individuals are the same. Clients registered at the facility are encouraged to attend Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings off-site during their free time. The staff team at the facility are a mixture of Licensed Drug and Alcohol counselors, as well as Masters-level therapists. Clients can step down to Chemical Dependency Recovery Group, after completion of the intensive outpatient program and this runs once weekly.
