O’Brien House is a treatment center for alcoholics and drug addicts. It was established in 1971 and has been providing treatment, prevention and hope to patients and families for over 40 years. The center offers comprehensive treatment programs of Residential Treatment, Outpatient Treatment, Adult Education and Prevention Programs. The treatment programs are for adults, young adults and adolescents. This goal is achieved through a structured environment and set of therapies based on the 12-steps principles. At O’Brien, each patient is dealt with in a compassionate and dignified manner. Each individual is given due respect and individualized treatment plans are created for every one of them. Another notable program at this facility is the Veteran’s Program that helps ex-serviceman cope with trauma and PTSD issues. Group sessions are carried out twice weekly for veterans and these services are absolutely free for them. The staff at O’Brien consists of an executive team, administrative team, counselors, registered nurses and therapists. O’Brien has over 40 years of experience in saving lives that could have been destroyed by the negative consequences of addiction and mental health problems.

Housing and Food at O’Brien House

O’Brien House is situated in the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is built as a simple yet modern facility. Upto 60 patients can be accommodated in the residential program. Patients share rooms that are simple, neat and adequately furnished. Each room has two beds and side tables. Bathrooms are also shared among patients. There are common rooms that are equipped with flat screen TVs and furnished with sofas and tables. The common rooms offer a safe, cozy and peaceful environment to clients. The facility also has a gym where patients can exercise and use gym equipment. There are beautiful lawns surrounding the building which can be used for walking, meditation, yoga and contemplation. O’Brien House has an in-house chef that prepares meals three times a day. The facility also has a registered dietician consultant whose job is to create healthy menus for patient. The dietician considers special dietary restrictions and needs of patients while devising menus. Thus, the patients are provided with a variety of healthy and delicious meal options to choose from. Meals are served in the cafeteria where patients eat together. This helps create bonding among patients as well as gives them the opportunity to interact with each and improve social skills.
