In the first phase, clients are able to stabilize the immediate crisis whereas in the second phase patients are taught the skills of promoting personal and emotional development, relationship building, and independence which help them return back to the community as changed people. The River Oaks Hospital is located on a 14-acre campus just a few minutes outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. The hospital is a 126-bed facility that provides a safe and private environment for clients to begin their journey towards recovery. The hospital is built in modern architecture with beautiful outdoor courtyards providing clients with a peaceful place where they can relax, feel the fresh air, and enjoy the sunshine. The accommodation for clients is simple but comfortable. Clients stay in double-occupancy rooms furnished with beds, side tables, and closets. A shared bathroom is connected between two suites. A common room is available which is well-lit and furnished in a comfortable manner. Clients can relax, watch TV, and bond with each other in the common room in their free time. There is a playroom at the hospital for younger clients where they can engage in recreational activities and play during their treatment at the facility. The playroom consists of several games, board games, computers, and books to keep the kids occupied in healthy activities. The hospital has a team of in-house chefs and kitchen staff which prepares healthy and nutritious meals for residents three times a day. Meals are served in the cafeteria.

Dr. Lincoln Denton Paine
Medical Director

Dr. Paine completed his Residency in Psychiatry at Tulane and a two-year fellowship in Child Psychiatry. He served in the navy for two years as a psychiatrist before joining River Oaks Hospital. He has over 40 years of experience in the behavioral health and psychiatry field where he offered consultations and psychiatric evaluations.

William has a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee and a Master’s degree of Social Work from Tulane University. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has over 35 years of experience in the behavioral health care industry. He has been part of the River Oaks hospital for almost 18 years, 15 of which he has served on his current designation.
