The Mann House is a non-profit organization that provides sober living residence to adult men suffering from alcohol and drug addiction. The mission of the Mann House is to successfully serve the community particularly those individuals who are reluctant to recover from addiction. The house focuses specifically on chronically relapsing adult men whose thinking and actions change to addictive behaviors after having achieved sobriety. The clients and staff members adhere to the house’s values of strict discipline, accountability, and close connections to alumni. The house offers sober living facilities to adult men aged 18 or older who must have completed some residential or relapse treatment at some facility for at least 21 days. Prospective clients are evaluated for unique factors such as motivation level, mental health status, and medical condition to assess if they would be willing to comply with the strict guidelines and routine of the house. Residents are expected to start working full-time within two weeks of induction to help them become independent, create a budget plan and save money accordingly. Residents can stay at the Mann House for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of a year or more. The center does not induct handicapped individuals or those suffering from dual-diagnosis disorders.

Housing and Food at The Mann House

The Mann House is located in Bel Air, Maryland as a two-story house that is comprised of 6 bedrooms. Each bedroom can accommodate two residents and is furnished with twin beds, dressers, and shared closets for clients. Each bedroom has an attached bathroom which is equipped with a shower and bathtub. Bed linens and pillows are provided by the house. There is a large living room in the house which is furnished with comfortable sofas and contains a flat-screen TV with cable. Clients are responsible for doing their own laundry in the laundry room. The laundry room comes with a washer and dryer. Residents are assigned chores which include cleaning the house and helping out in the kitchen. There is a porch with outdoor seating where clients can relax and enjoy the fresh air and sunlight. There is a fully functional kitchen in the house where a staff cook prepares meals for residents three times a day. Special consideration is given to prepare healthy and nutritious food for residents. Meals always include some protein, vegetables, and healthy fats. At dinner, clients are usually served chicken, fish, or steaks with sauteed vegetables. Breakfast usually comprises cereal, yogurt, toast, and coffee. Special dietary restrictions or food allergies of clients are also accommodated while preparing meals.

Payment Options at The Mann House

The Mann House is a sober living facility that serves adult men aged 18 and above who have already completed treatment at some residential treatment facility. The house offers affordable residence to individuals. The weekly rent at the house is $150 which comes at $600 for a month. Since the house does not provide medical services, insurance providers do not offer any plans that cover any costs incurred by clients at the facility. The rent is inclusive of all services and food provided during the client’s stay at the Mann House. Clients stay for an average of six to nine months but stay can be extended up to a year or more.

The Mann House Advantages

The Mann House is a non-profit sober living facility that helps adult men get back on their feet after suffering from alcohol addiction and substance abuse. The clients must be diagnosed by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) for alcoholism or chemical dependency to be admitted to the house. Clients are also required to have completed some primary or relapse treatment at some residential treatment facility. If clients meet all these criteria, they are inducted after assessment and evaluation. During their stay at the house, residents are required to attend daily 12-step AA/NA meetings alongside completing their chores around the house. Clients are also required to work 40 hours a week so they learn how to support themselves, make budget plans, and contribute to their savings. Residents are taught to live independently and become healthy and productive individuals who can contribute to the betterment of society.

The Mann House offers a sober living residence to adult men in a structured and private environment. The staff at the Mann House offers guidance, support, and counseling to the residents to help them become independent and productive individuals. There are staff counselors who offer individual and group counseling to residents to help them leave their old habits of addiction and adopt a healthier lifestyle. The staff also includes a life skills trainer who helps clients in finding and securing good jobs. He teaches residents all aspects of budgeting and financing so that clients can learn how to support themselves and save money as well. A house manager also serves as a staff member whose responsibility is to manage all operations and smooth functioning of the house and is available 24 hours a day. The staff also includes a chef who is responsible for preparing healthy, balanced, and nutritious meals for residents.
