Ashley Addiction Treatment, located in the city of Havre de Grace is a 35-year-old alcohol and drug treatment center founded by Father Joseph C. Martin, a Catholic priest, and Mae Abraham, who both suffered from alcoholism and were inspired to help other individuals struggling with the affliction as well. The facility is embedded with Catholic influences as can be observed in the strict manner it is run and is focused on transforming the life of addicts through the integration of medical, spiritual, and holistic forms of therapy. Even though the center operates on Catholic principles, it offers its services to people of all faith—believers or not. In 1986, the Ashley Addiction Treatment became the first rehabilitation center to establish a special relapse prevention program which offers 12-step meetings, therapeutic needs, detoxification, and relapse prevention professionals. Individuals who are admitted are usually given a copy of the Big Book of Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous and a daily meditation book.
The facility boasts of expert professionals who include addiction counselors, doctors, experienced and registered nurses, and psychologists. The facility addresses the clinical and medical needs of the patients including co-occurring issues with clinical and holistic methods of treatment. Accommodation, Meals, and Schedules

Ashley Addiction Treatment follows strict rules. Residents at the facility are accommodated at same-sex houses which are cozy and comfortable. Each resident usually has two roommates and they are encouraged to be respectful and responsible for their personal space. The center provides housekeeping in charge of cleaning and replacing bed sheets and laundry services. Residents are advised to bring up to $100 in cash for buying items on campus. Residents are also advised to bring comfortable clothing, ID, medications in their original bottles, and work-out clothing. However, electronic devices, food, perfumes, and revealing clothing are not allowed in the facility. The center offers the residents with an array of above-average dishes which include eggs and bacon, fresh pancakes, chicken, pasta, and meatloaf. Accommodation is made for clients with special dietary requirements and dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients. Residents are also advised to engage in healthy activities such as exercises (a fully-equipped fitness center and personal trainers are available on site), meditation and arts. The center also offers free massages. A typical day usually kicks off around 6:00 am and ends at about 9:00 pm.
