North Cottage Program provides residential treatment services to adult males aged 18 and above for substance abuse disorders. The mission statement of North Cottage is to provide comprehensive and high-quality treatment to any adult male who wishes to rid his life from the negative effects of addiction and substance abuse. The center provides a safe and private environment for clients to start their recovery journey. Clients are offered treatment services regardless of their ability to pay. The treatment program is based on individualized plans created for each client. Clients undergo a number of different therapies and treatment modalities to achieve a drug-free lifestyle after the completion of the program. The residential program is usually of 60-90 days duration during which clients are offered education seminars on topics such as health, addiction, and life skills. Clients also participate in 12-step meetings and counseling sessions which heal the mind, body, and spirit of each patient. After completion of the residential program, clients may be transferred to the long-term Halfway House program or another residential program depending on their progress. Through the dedicated and compassionate efforts of a multidisciplinary staff, the clients are able to put their addiction into remission and achieve lasting recovery.

Housing and Food at North Cottage Program

North Cottage Program is located in Norton, Massachusetts in a country setting. The residential program can accommodate 50 male clients at one time. The long-term residential program Halfway House can accommodate 65 patients. Bedrooms are shared among three clients. Bedrooms provide all basic amenities to clients and consist of twin sized beds and dressers for each one. Each bedroom has an attached bathroom which is shared among its occupants. There are common areas for clients which are furnished in comfortable sofas and equipped with TVs. There are therapy rooms which are also comfortable and cozy. A number of recreational opportunities are provided for clients which include volleyball courts and pool tables. There is a small library/ reading room at the campus where clients can have access to books on various topics. Clients are also given free day passes to visit the community library for a larger collection of books and resources. Meals are prepared by the in-house chefs and kitchen staff three times a day. A variety of foods is available at each mealtime including salads and fast food. The meals are served and eaten in the dining rooms. Special dietary restrictions of clients are also accommodated.

The center strives to offer treatment to individuals irrespective of their capacity to pay. For this reason, a sliding scale cost is offered to each client based on his income resources and ability to pay. The center also accepts some insurance plans. All related insurance information can be obtained from the admissions office. The admissions office guides clients and families regarding the financial aspects of the treatment program and helps them decide on a plan that is affordable to them.

The center only takes voluntary admissions of clients who have been referred by some detoxification rehabilitation program and who have a documented proof of at least 7 days of abstinence from alcohol and drugs. The center offers two types of residential programs: a short-term program of usually two to three months duration and a long-term program called Halfway House that can span six months duration. Initially clients complete the short-term residential program after which they may be shifted to the Halfway House or to another residential program based on their progress and motivation. During treatment, clients go through holistic approaches to treatment which enables them to achieve sustained recovery.
