Brighton Center For Recovery Overview

Located in the town of Brighton, Michigan in the Livingston County, Brighton Center for Recovery is an organization which offers treatment for adults above the age of 18 looking to overcome chemical dependency and substance abuse problems. The facility was established in October of 1953 by Harry Henderson but incorporated in 1948 and has become a well-known provider of drug and alcohol treatment in the country. Co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, Bill Wilson, and founder of the national council on alcoholism, Marty Mann, helped largely with the establishment of the organization. The facility became the first addiction treatment center in Michigan to open its doors in October of 1953. The Brighton Center for Recovery became part of St. John Providence in 2011 after a ten-year partnership and joined a faith-based healthcare organization called Ascension Health. Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery became the new name of the hospital. The center provides individualized treatment plans for each patient with the help of an experienced and licensed treatment staff consisting of recovery care coordinators, physicians, substance abuse therapists, and nurses. The center also offers various levels of care including inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, gender-specific halfway houses, and a lifelong recovery program.

Accommodation & Food

The center offers dormitories for both men and women. Each of the gender-specific dormitories can accommodate up to 16 persons, with eight rooms being occupied by two clients. Roommates are required to share storage space, and the rooms are furnished and equipped with en-suite bathrooms, twin beds, and dressers. Laundry services are available at the treatment center.
Food is served in the facility’s cafeteria and includes a salad bar and soup. Some sugar and coffee are allowed, and snacks are available for clients between meal times.
