Overview of Park Avenue Center

Park Avenue Center offers gender-specific treatment programs against addiction and co-occurring disorders to adults and families. It was established in 1979 and since then has been providing the highest quality of service and a comprehensive continuum of care to clients. The programs at the center are community-based in which treatment services are provided to the needy population free of cost. The clients that the center serves are typically the ones who have added problems like financial issues, homelessness, and lack of emotional support. Park Avenue center treats all clients with compassion and care in an effort to rid them of those issues and make them feel at home. They are able to let go of their past and focus on healing without any stress or problems. This is achieved through a comprehensive set of evidence-based therapies including 12-step meetings, spirituality, and codependency. The center offers a number of residential and outpatient programs including African-American Specific Program and Family Program. Park Avenue Center is located in Minneapolis as separate units for men, women, and assessments. The philosophy at Park Avenue Center is that the environment where a person lives has a deep impact on his/her feelings and behavior. Therefore, Park Avenue tries its best to provide a private, safe and secure environment to all its clients to help them in the healing process. The men’s and women’s facilities are beautifully constructed and decorated. Clients stay in their designated, gender-specific units. Each unit is decorated in earthy tones and comfortable furniture. Rooms and bathrooms are shared among clients. Each room is furnished with basic necessities like twin beds, dressers, and closets. The wall decorations and beautiful carpets all give a home-like feel to its residents. Common rooms and meeting rooms are also comfortably decorated where clients can relax and vent their emotions. Each room has large windows that let plenty of healthy sunshine in which creates a hopeful atmosphere. Clients are given various opportunities for indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Park Avenue Center has a kitchen staff which prepares meals for residents three times a day. Meals are served in the dining hall. Dining halls are also gender-specific.

Katie Beedle, MA, LADC
Lead Co-occurring Counselor

Katie has a Master’s in Psychotherapy and Co-occurring disorders from Adler Graduate School. She joined Park Avenue in 2015. Before that, she had experience working as a Mental Health Counselor at South Metro Human Services. She joined Park Avenue as an intern, then moved to the designation of Intake Counselor before becoming the Lead Co-occurring Counselor.

Paige Blasing, MA, LADC
Complex Co-occurring Counselor

Paige received her Master’s degree in Addiction Studies with emphasis on Integrated Recovery for Co-occurring Disorders from the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies. Before joining Park Avenue in 2017, she completed her internship at Park Avenue and Wayside House. Paige’s areas of expertise include working with clients in a compassionate manner which makes her feel fulfilled.

Chet Dixon, MA, LPCC, LADC
Clinical Supervisor

Chet received his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Addictions Counseling from Argosy University. He joined Park Avenue n 2013 as an Intern after which he was designated as an Intake Counselor. He then moved to become a Lead Counselor before assuming his current role as Clinical Supervisor. He has a lot of experience working in the behavioral health industry with special focus on personality disorders.
