Turning Point Overview

Located in the city of Verona, New Jersey, Turning Point is a mental health and substance abuse treatment center for men and women aged 18 and above looking to overcome substance addiction and abuse problems. The New Jersey facility offers outpatient programs as a step down to residential treatment and is for clients who are still requiring recovery and fully functioning. The facility partners with other organizations such as the Anderson House to be able to provide a halfway house program for clients in need of such care.
The first stage for clients interested in the outpatient program is an initial assessment which can take up to two hours. This assessment is aimed at determining the kind of treatment and level of care the client needs. Clients in need of detox will be admitted into the 10-bed detox facility that Turning Point offers. This facility offers treatment to clients with opiates and alcohol addiction. After the initial assessment and treatment program has been determined, clients are assigned a primary counselor who will help establish a treatment schedule and who will work directly with the individual. Intensive outpatient program or basic outpatient track will be recommended depending on the evaluation result. Clients in the IOP track meet 10 hours weekly and therapists may us Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Motivational Interviewing to explore topics such as stress management, depression and anxiety, family dynamics, managing depression, and more. Medication management is offered to clients suffering from co-occurring disorders and this treatment is overseen by a qualified therapist.
The average duration of stay in the intensive outpatient program is six weeks, but stay is determined on each individual’s needs. Clients registered in basic outpatient tracks meet for individual therapy twice weekly and for once a week for group therapy. Topics discussed in these sessions are similar to that of the intensive outpatient track but is offered with less frequency. The staff team consists of a staff psychiatrist, certified alcohol and drug addiction counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists.

The outpatient treatment services offers treatment as a step down to residential treatment. It is done in a safe setting to clients dealing with substance abuse and mental health disorders. The services are overseen by a qualified staff team which assists in delivering various treatment options including therapy and psychiatric evaluations.

Halfway House Treatment

The facility’s halfway house treatment is an otherwise structured residential program which encourages responsible community living and beginning a life of long-term sobriety. Clients are offered support and given a place to stay where they manage basic live-in and work-out routine.

Pricing

Turning Point costs vary as no two persons or treatments are the same. Clients treatment price are calculated based on depending on the level of care and type of treatment. The facility accepts multiple private insurance providers including Medicaid and some of these in-network insurance providers include Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Magnacare, Empire Blue Cross, and many more. Funding is available for clients who meet the criteria and are eligible. Clients are encouraged to place a call to the facility or send an email if more information on payment, admission, insurance verification, and more is required. As of right now, Personal pay is not accepted at the facility.

Robert Parkinson
Chief Financial Officer

Robert holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Ithaca College and a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Penn State University. He is responsible and manages the financial department and development of the facility including budgeting, accounting, financial planning and analysis, revenue and cost management, and many more. Prior to holding the position at the facility, he served in different capacities at other organizations such as Chief Operations Officer, Senior Financial Officer, and many more.

Kenneth Faistl
Chief Medical Officer

Kenneth holds a degree from the Seton Hall University and Rutgers Medical School. He is board certified to practice Addiction and Family Medicine. Prior to holding his position at the facility, he served in the different capacities at other organizations such as the New Hope Foundation, where he served as the Medical Director.

Heather Greulich
Director of Administrative Services

Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in Psychology and a Master’s degree from William Paterson University in Applied Clinical and Counseling Psychology. She also earned a certificate in Non-Profit Management from the same university as well. She manages and oversees all administrative activities at the facility making sure that all services are consistent.
