Horizon Village Overview

Located in the town of Sanborn, New York, Horizon Village is a non-profit intensive residential treatment facility for adult men and women dealing with substance use disorders or chemical dependency problems. The center began in 1994 and is a part of the Horizon Health Services. The organization is a non-profit corporation which was founded in 1975 and provides services for men and women dealing with mental health disorders and substance abuse. Additionally, the organization is the largest provider of outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment services in Western New York. The facility integrates treatment and emphasizes the focus in the cultural, psychological, environmental, medical, and spiritual needs of the individual. The facility boasts of comprehensive treatment programs offered in safe, professional environment. Holistic, person-centered recovery is provided by the treatment center in a setting which encourages clients to focus on improving life-skill areas. The center boasts of a multidisciplinary staff representing the fields of social work, family counseling, psychology, medicine, nursing, alcoholism and substance abuse, activities therapy, and psychiatry. The campus also houses the Freedom Village, a facility which provides treatment services to men and military veterans dealing with substance abuse issues.

The center is designed to keep the residents comfortable and safe and is capable of accommodating up to 50 persons. The center is a one-story, modern, handicapped-accessible building situated on three acres. The facility has 2 single-occupancy and 24 double-occupancy rooms located in separate residential wings. The facility’s amenities include gardens and picnic area, a dining hall and fitness center, and a basketball court.
Food at the facility is served cafeteria-style.

Residential Treatment

The facility’s residential treatment program provides various recovery treatment options including a health and wellness program, medication-assisted treatment, family programming, and mental health counseling. Patients are involved in addiction education programs, psychiatric and medical evaluation, 12-step work, group and individual counseling, and vocational and educational assessment. This program takes place twice a week and also on Saturday mornings. General family events are also organized by the village as well but this only occurs approximately four times a year.

Anne holds a degree from Buffalo State College and a Master’s degree from SUNY at Buffalo in Educational Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling. She has held the position of CEO and President for over twenty years and is in charge of the implementation and development of strategic plans at the facility.

Erin DiGirolamo
CFO and Vice President

Erin holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University majoring in Accounting and the West Virginia University, where she studied Pharmacy. Prior to holding the position of Vice President at the organization, she served in other capacities in different organizations such as Ernst and Young’s Healthcare Consulting Division where she served for sixteen years.

Carolyn Morrow
Chief Legal Counsel

Carolyn went to the State University of New York where she earned an undergraduate and a doctorate (juris) degree and currently serves as the lead attorney of the facility. Her practice and knowledge cover many areas such as corporate compliance, business law, legal due diligence reviews, insurances, employment law, human resources matters, contract negotiation, and more.
