Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services, located in the small town of Trumansburg, New York, a little over an hour northwest of Binghamton, is a residential treatment facility for persons dealing with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues. The residential center is a part of the Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) program which began in 1972 and was reopened in September of 2004 as a multi-million dollar intensive residential treatment center after it was burnt down in 2003. The facility’s residential treatment program provides personalized and evidence-based practices and adapted a treatment model called The Matrix Model in 2006. The organization has two other facilities in locations at Trumansburg and Ithaca offering outpatient rehab, outpatient treatment, and intensive residential treatment services. The center is a co-ed facility capable of accommodating up to 60 persons at a time. The residential units are separated by gender and clients are accommodated in semi-private rooms with four clients sharing a room.
