A Renewed Mind, also known as ARM, is a behavioral healthcare facility located in one residential center in Toledo, Ohio, and 9 outpatient centers spread across several counties throughout Ohio. The various centers were established at various points of time in the last two decades. They offer rehabilitation or substance abuse victims and dual diagnosis treatment for accompanying mental disorders.
The Toledo facility of ARM offers treatment in an inpatient setting. The other facilities are dedicated to treating either adolescents or family of suffering victims or the victims themselves. ARM offers substance abuse-related treatment to a large demography of people ranging from adolescents and adult victims to family members.
The treatment programs offered at the various facilities are highly specialized and commences with an initial assessment. This allows the team at the center to understand the prospective client’s needs and accordingly draw up individualized treatment plans. These programs draw heavily on traditional evidence-based therapies. They are also rooted in the belief that to cure addiction, one has to cure the underlying mental health issues that causes it.

Accommodation and Food

The residential quarters are located at the Toledo facility, which is the only one that offers a residential track. It has a capacity to house a maximum of 20 residents at a time. The facility only serves adolescent or young adult male clients ranging in age from 12 to 18. Clients are housed in sharing based rooms that can accommodate two residents together.
Food is served three times a day in a cafeteria style setting. Meals are a communal activity and all residents are expected to take their meals together in allotted time slots every day. The menu comprises of healthy food options that are chosen in order to maximize the nutrient intake of the residents.

The costs of the treatment that follows is decided on a sliding scale basis taking into account the financial capability of the clients. They are flexible in their payment acceptance and are fine with both self-pay as well as payment through private or state-funded insurances. Matthew D. Rizzo
Chief Executive Officer & President

Matthew D. Rizzo has been associated with A Renewed Mind since September of 2009 when he joined as Vice President of Clinical Operations. He assumed responsibilities as the CEO and President of the organization in 2014. In this position, he is in charge of overseeing the planning and execution of policies and ensuring the growth of the centers.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the Bowling Green State University. Furthermore, he also has a Masters in Clinical and Medical Social Work and another in Public Administration in Healthcare from the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute and the State University of New York, respectively.

Wendy Shaheen
Director of Mental Health Services

Wendy Shaheen joined the team at ARM in April, 2011. Since then she has been serving as Vice President of Clinical Services and Director of Mental Health Services. She specializes in program development, program management, and nonprofit administration. She has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the Central Michigan University and a Masters in Social Work Administration from the University of Michigan, School of Social Work.

Julie Weinandy
Vice President of Medical Services

Julie Weinandy is a registered nurse who serves as the Vice President of Medical services at A Renewed Mind. In this position, she is in charge of overseeing the planning and implementation of the programs across various departments. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
