Tulsa Boys’ Home is the largest residential treatment facility that offers treatment services to troubled boys in Oklahoma. It was founded in 1918 as a two-story house. In 1924, this facility became a member of the Community Fund, which later evolved into the Tulsa Area United Way.
Tulsa Boys’ Home spreads over an area of 160 acres in Sand Springs in West Tulsa County. It is a residential treatment facility for boys who are struggling with behavioral, mental, and substance abuse issues. On an average, the Department of Human Services places around 40 boys at this recovery center.
Tulsa Boys’ Home is also a member of the Oklahoma Alliance for Family and Children’s Services (OKCARE). The residential unit at this facility can accommodate up to 24 boys at a given time. Boys have to share their rooms with another roommate in a dorm-like setting.
After some progress in recovery, a client can apply for a single room if any room is available there. In terms of food, clients are served with three meals a day in a cafeteria-like setting at Tulsa Boys’ Home. The main campus provides clients with various recreational opportunities. In the campus, there is a running track, two fishing ponds, and a swimming pool. In addition to this, there is also a ranch area for horses where clients can take part in equine therapy.
