In August 2012, the treatment facility was acquired by Elements Behavioral Health, as it was formerly known as Spirit Lodge. Since the acquisition, quality of treatments and services offered have been upgraded and expanded. Previously, the facility only handled substance abuse and addiction, but when the new administration came into place, a higher level of treatment and services replaced it. The facility is located just outside Austin and offers a lush nine-acre estate in a private community. Treatment approach includes a blend of increased psychotherapy, psychological and clinical treatment, and holistic treatment.
Clients with both mental health and substance abuse disorders will get proper care here, as the facility specializes in treating dual diagnosis patients. All treatment plans and therapies are individualized based on the client’s special needs. Each client’s treatment plan comes with fully packed with 12-step meetings, educational groups, Native American symbolism, two weekly individual counseling sessions, weekly family involvement, relapse prevention planning, and small group sessions of approximately 10 hours weekly.
The facility currently utilizes multiple therapy methods such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Somatic Experiencing, and Integrative Breathwork, to treat clients experiencing high-level trauma due to high struggle with substance abuse. Terms and Conditions of Living at Promises Austin

Topics addressed during group therapy sessions include family triggers, relapse prevention, and emotional toxicity. These topics help encourage and promote a strong recovery. Clients wake up at 7:00 am, begin morning activities and daily reflections at 7:30 am, and then go for breakfast. By 8:55, all morning activities are expected to be over as a process group starts at 9:00 am and ends at 10:30 am. From 10:45-11:45, Big Book study occurs and after completion, clients can go for lunch at 12:00 pm and must have finished all lunch activities at 1:00 pm. For about 30 minutes (12:30 and 1:00 pm), clients can use their laptop and personal phones. Immediately after this at 1:15, Living in Balance group begins and ends at 2:15 pm. At 2:30 pm, group session for Health and Wellness holds and it ends at 3:30 pm. From 3:45-4:45 pm, clients take part in Art therapy. At 5:20 pm, dinner is served and 6 pm t0 6:30 pm, clients can use the communal phones. Clients are required to attend 12-step meetings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and after gratitude group ends at 9 pm, clients can enjoy their free time till lights out which is at 11 pm.
The facility utilizes a program called “unplugged”, which clients must under upon the first week of arrival into the facility. The focus of this “unplugged” program is to help slowly integrate individuals to a new way of life or living. Clients relinquish rights to their laptops and cell phones and after the seven days, are allowed only to utilize these devices for 30 minutes daily. The treatment team is complete with high-level physicians, counselors, and 24-hour nursing staff.

The treatment center currently admits a maximum of 24 patients at a time in a facility that offers upscale living accommodations. Giving off a bed and breakfast feel, the facility offers spacious, cozy rooms fully equipped with pleasant interior décor and comfortable queen-sized beds.
Clients are required to share rooms, but private rooms are available to individuals who may desire such, or based on availability with the admissions director. Clients will feel at home while receiving treatment, as the facility offers a family-like setting, which even includes a dog.
Highly trained kitchen staff and chef are available to prepare meals. Clients with dietary restrictions, special requests, and allergies are taken into consideration when all meals are being made.
