Timberline Knolls is a Residential Treatment Center that offers treatment services to women and adolescent girls for eating disorders, addictions, mood disorders, and trauma. The mission at Timberline Knolls is to provide a nurturing environment to women and help them make real-life changes in order to become emotionally strong, personally responsible, and socially resilient members of the society. This is achieved through the core values of excellence in care, empowering adolescent girls, dedication, and continuous quality improvement.
Timberline Knolls offers a residential program, partial hospitalization program, family program, alumnae program, and more. The center creates integrated and holistic treatment plans for each client considering her history, strengths, weaknesses, wishes, and desires. Individualized treatment plans are created to treat the person as a whole and not the symptoms. The experienced and credentialed staff provide historically-proven and innovative care solutions to help the women emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Therapies such as Creative Arts Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, and Art Therapy offer a new and unique approach to treatment which has proven successful and has helped thousands of women so far. As a result of these therapeutic activities and innovative approaches, women are able to make the positive change themselves and achieve lasting recovery.

Housing and Food

Timberline Knolls is located on 43 acres of a huge campus in Lemont, Illinois. The campus offers breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere where residents can start their healing journey. The campus has a mix of historical, restored buildings that date back to the 19th century as well as modern and aesthetically pleasing buildings that have won architectural awards. The beautiful grounds that surround the buildings are also award-winning which provide gorgeous views and scenery.
Residents stay in private rooms that are beautifully decorated and consist of a twin-sized bed, side-table, drawers, a desk, and a chair. There is a common room that is furnished with comfortable sofas and decorated aesthetically with indoor plants and wall hangings. There is an Art Therapy and Creative Arts Therapy room where residents can indulge in different forms of activities related to the arts. The center offers a number of recreational activities to its residents such as yoga, walks, and meditation. Residents can take advantage of the beautiful landscapes of the campus to reconnect with nature and feel its healing powers. The center has an in-house, award-winning culinary chef who prepares delicious and nutritious cuisines for the residents three times a day. Meals are served in the dining room.

Samantha Gehrig, MA, LCPC
Clinical Lead

Samantha has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Governors State University. Before joining Timberline Knolls, she served as a Mental Health Coordinator at the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center. She has experience working as a Sexuality Therapist and Prevention Educator with specialized therapy services for at-risk adolescents.

Brooke Mathewes, LCPC, MEd, RCC, CCC
Clinical Consultant

Brooke has a BA degree in Communication with a minor in Psychology. She has a Postdoc Baccalaureate Diploma in Counseling & Human from Simon Fraser University. She also has an MEd in Counseling Psychology from the University of Victoria, British Columbia. She is a certified trainer in Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT). She has experience working as a therapist, consultant, and supervisor at various organizations.

Sonja Negrean, RN, BS
Director of Nursing

Sonja has a Nursing degree from the College of DuPage and a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern. She is chemo-certified and stroke-certified. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Psychiatric Association, and the Oncology Nursing Association. Her responsibilities at Timberline Knolls include directing and supervising nurses, patient care techs, and the behavioral health specialists.
