Overview of Gemeinschaft Home
Gemeinschaft Home is a non-profit organization that offers treatment services to people who are struggling with chemical dependency. This facility is located in Harrisonburg, Oklahoma. It is a recovery-oriented facility that is in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Corrections (DOC).
Gemeinschaft Home was established in June 1985 as a residential unit to treat individuals released from confinement or have a probation compulsion with the DOC. It primarily helps offenders or ex-offenders who come out of correctional units to transit back into the public. Now, this recovery center provides two additional treatment services, namely the Self-Pay Program and Day Reporting Center.
Gemeinschaft Home follows the Therapeutic Community (TC) model to offer liberty to all residents, where they can become a part of “graduated freedom”. This facility proposes Day Reporting Center (DRC), which is specially designed to lessen the local prison population. This program also provides clients with counseling interventions in the local area.
Gemeinschaft Home is a collaborative initiative with the Rockingham and Harrisonburg County. This program is basically an alternative to confinement for chosen individuals currently in the post- or pre-trial process. This recovery center is even available to locals who are in desperate need of a residential program based on counseling services whether they are incarcerated or not.
Accommodation and Food
Gemeinschaft Home offers treatment services for both men and women. However, this recovery center offers a residential program for men only. The length of the stay lasts up to a minimum of 90 days. This unit comprises 44 beds along with an emergency bed. Now, Gemeinschaft Home has also bought an adjoining small house that can accommodate four residents.
All rooms are equipped with basic services like shared closets, dressers, and twin beds. Each room is shared by roommates ranging from two to eight. In the residential unit, there are common areas with cable TVs, dining rooms, etc. At Gemeinschaft Home, clients have to partake in daily chores and maintenance of living areas. Patients have to observe each and every house-rule, mainly abstinence and curfew from drugs and alcohol.
When it comes to food, all meals are prepared in a fully-equipped kitchen. Clients have to cook their own breakfast where they are provided with all necessary items. On the other hand, dinner and lunch are prepared by chefs present on the site.
