Mazzitti & Sullivan, located on the East Shore of the capital state of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is a counseling center which provides substance abuse counseling as well as mental health services to individuals aged 13 and older dealing with depression, chemical dependency, anxiety, and more. The center was fully licensed in 1983 and has since provided counseling services to the residents of Pennsylvania. The center boasts of a well-experienced professional team of counselors and therapists and operates at multiple locations in Pennsylvania including Hershey, Middletown, and Mechanicsburg. In regards to mental health counseling, the center applies a focused, goal-based therapy which is designed to resolve a wide range of mental health issues. Issues such as grief, trauma, depression, stress, and loss are tended to by experienced staff. The facility provides treatment for dual diagnosis disorders and provides treatment options to address a wide variety of behavioral, mental, and emotional issues. Additionally, the counseling center provides different levels of patient care for individuals struggling with substance abuse consisting of a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for adults, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), assessments, and specialized outpatient groups. The center’s Middletown facility is one of the only locations which provide a partial hospitalization program for teenagers. The facility is open Monday through Saturday.

Partial Hospitalization Program

The intensive outpatient program is 12-step oriented and can act as the next step for individuals who have completed a residential or inpatient treatment program. Group and individual therapy sessions are important parts of this program. The program also includes drug screening, DUI assessment, family counseling and support groups, and a dual diagnosis track.

Mazzitti Sullivan Employee Assistance Program Services costs approximately $1,925 for a six-week program but this price is subject to change as it is greatly dependent on the program a client is registered into. The facility is in-network with most insurance providers and companies interested are encouraged to contact the facility for more information on payment and medical coverage.

Mazzitti Sullivan Advantages

The facility currently does not offer any family program but some therapists and counselors might welcome the families and loved ones of clients to come in for a session if initial approval has been given by the client. This case is rare and is only done if absolutely needed or upon request. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is offered to clients but on a scheduled basis and costs an additional fee different from the average cost of treatment. After the completion of a primary program, aftercare is given to clients which consist of a continuing care group with designated times for meetings weekly. The facility also offers employee assistance programs to companies to conduct a substance abuse program for employees in need of it. The organization offers a standard intensive outpatient program which includes support for clients suffering from dual diagnosis. The program has an average duration of six weeks and is a good way to help individuals previously registered into a residential program ease back into a normal life.

She is board certified to practice drug and alcohol counselor and has over 15 years of experience in the field of behavioral health. As addiction has affected her family once before, she is very passionate and dedicated to helping individuals who are seeking recovery.

Mary Diskerud – Clinical Director (Hershey Office)

Mary holds Bachelor’s degree from Towson University where she majored in psychiatry and a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland where she majored in Social Work. She has been in the business of treating individuals with behavioral health problems for over 20 years and was working in hospital settings for some years before moving to outpatient settings.
