Northbound Treatment Services offers its services at various locations with the main, residential treatment offered at the Northbound’s rehab in Orange County. It is located in the heart of Newport Beach in the coastal region of Orange County. It offers beautiful and breathtaking views of the surroundings with a peaceful and inspiring atmosphere which helps clients in their healing. The campus is sprawled across acres of land that includes 42 miles of pristine beaches that offer the natural beauty of Southern California and a safe clinical setting. The center provided accommodation facilities to clients in small private homes. Clients stay in private and semi-private rooms that are luxuriously furnished to provide a comfortable and cozy environment to clients. Comfortable common areas equipped with flat-screen TVs serve as a place where clients can relax and enjoy their free time. The center also provides peaceful gardens, music rooms, and gyms for various recreational activities for clients. There are shared outdoor spaces where clients can engage in yoga and meditation. Each home has a small kitchen and dining area. There are in-house chefs who prepare nutritious and healthy meals for residents. Meals are prepared in the kitchens of all private homes and served in the dining areas where residents eat thrice a day.

Dr. Edward Kaufman
Medical Director

Dr. Edward received his medical training at Jefferson University, USC and Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Kaufman has been working the field of psychiatry for over 40 years now. He joined Northbound in 2012 where he oversees the sub-acute residential detoxification services. His areas of expertise include the application of psychology, family systems, and psychopharmacology to meet clients’ individual needs.

Dr. Katherine Burke, MA,
PsyD, LMFT
Lead Therapist

Dr. Katherine received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle. She earned her Master’s degree and Doctoral in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University. Her responsibilities as Lead Therapist at Northbound include overseeing the clinical program development and supervise the clinical staff in providing treatment services to clients.

Ryan Snodgrass, MA, AMFT, APCC
Primary Clinician

Ryan has a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the Pepperdine University. She has dual registration as a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern and Professional Clinical Counselor Intern. She has extensive experience working with clients struggling with addiction and mental illnesses.
