Overview of Lund

Lund is a rehabilitation and treatment facility that offers services to children, men, and women for substance abuse, mental health issues, and poverty. The mission of Lund is to help the children of the community thrive by empowering their parents and families through services such as adoption, housing, education, treatment, and family support. The organization was established in 1890 and for the last 150 years, has been successfully helping thousands of individuals and families break the bonds of addiction, poverty, and mental health issues. The center offers outpatient and residential treatment services for substance abuse, mental health disorders, and dual-diagnosis disorders. There are specialized programs offered for pregnant women and women with children where they are provided with quality care and service for themselves and their children. Children stay with their mothers during treatment which helps women focus solely on their treatment without the fear of their children being taken away from them. They are provided with counseling and holistic therapies through which they are able to adopt a healthier lifestyle and become independent. All treatment services at the center are trauma-informed and family-centered. All clients are offered round-the-clock care and compassionate services through which they are able to achieve long-term, sustainable recovery.

Housing and Food at Lund

The residential facility of Lund center is located in Burlington, Vermont. It can accommodate 26 pregnant women and women with or without children. Residents stay in bedrooms resembling dorm rooms that are shared among clients and their children. The rooms are bright, airy, and spacious and are furnished with beds, side tables, and closets. There are a few sets of living spaces provided which comprise three to six bedrooms, a lounge, and common bathrooms. Lounges are furnished with comfortable sofas and contain flat-screen TVs. Residents can watch TV, relax, and socialize with each other in the lounges. Clients are provided with laundry facilities at the center. All clients take part in daily chores assigned to them. These including cleaning the living spaces and helping out in the kitchen. There is an on-site kitchen where a chef prepares healthy and nutritious meals with the assistance of clients. The chef accommodates special dietary restrictions and/or food allergies of clients. Meals are served in the communal dining hall where patients and children eat together. Breakfast is served continental-style whereas buffet-style lunch and dinner are served. Clients have a number of food items to choose from including an assorted salad bar at lunch and dinner.
