Quapaw House Inc. Overview

Quapaw House Inc., located in the city of Hot Springs in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas, is a behavioral health and substance abuse rehab facility which seeks to provide high quality, comprehensive, and affordable behavioral health treatment to individuals, communities, and families. Mr. Casey Bright acts as the treatment center’s executive director and CEO. The center provides treatment services to a wide demographic consisting of teenagers, parenting women, and pregnant women. The facility offers a Specialized Women’s Services unit, a wellness program designed to cater to the needs of pregnant women and mothers.

Participants of this program and all clients of Quapaw House also have free access to the center’s childcare service. Various levels of care are offered at the center some of which include residential services, a medical and observational detox program, and an adult and adolescent outpatient program. Additionally, the center’s wellness clinic is open Monday through Friday and provides medical services to employees, clients, and communities of the treatment center. In addition to other special programs, the facility offers a Prisoner Re-entry Program, an evidence-based program which screens and refers parole-eligible prisoners and places them in re-entry programs across Arkansas. A drug and alcohol safety education program for DWI offenders is also offered at the facility.

Accommodation And Food

Residents at the center should expect to have roommates although very recently, the facility has expanded to provide private rooms to clients without any extra fee. The center can accommodate up to 70 people all rooms have a dormitory-style setup. Private rooms are reserved for residents who do not pay through insurance. Clients are advised to bring along twin-sized sheets, appropriate clothing, and alcohol-free toiletries and personal items. Laundry services are available at the facility and clients are allowed to bring their choice of detergent. Residents are also required to bring money for the coin-operated laundry and the vending machine.

Meals are served to the residents three times daily and the menu usually consists of salads, fruits, and main course meals such as pasta, chicken and a side, or hot sandwiches. Snacks are available and the center is accommodating of dietary restrictions.

Treatment & Therapy

The center offers various treatment and therapy programs depending on the unique needs of the client. Some of these are:

Medical And Observational Detoxification

This program usually lasts between 3-5 days and is tailored to clients dealing with opiates, alcohol, and benzodiazepine usage. The program includes medically-assisted treatment with approved medications. Clients suffering from uncomfortable and/or painful withdrawal symptoms are monitored closely.

Residential Services

The facility offers residential programs tailored to adolescents and adults and length of stay usually depends on the specific needs of each patient. These programs utilize evidence-based treatment programs and participants are involved heavily in therapy, counseling, and comprehensive assessments.

Outpatient Program

This program is less structured than the residential program and clients are provided with the support they need to integrate back into society. The intensive outpatient program typically goes on for about 12 weeks and includes counseling sessions and relapse prevention programs.

Quapaw House costs approximately $6,000 for a 30-day treatment (payment includes detox) at the facility but this price is subject to change depending on the program a client is registered into. Insurance is accepted at the facility and in this; clients are advised to contact the facility for more information on coverage and benefits. Clients are asked to provide their insurance card even though private or self-payments will be made.

Quapaw House Advantages

The facility offers a variety of groups which could be educational or otherwise. Adult education classes are also offered to clients interested in earning a G.E.D (General Education Diploma/Development) although this service is not rendered at the center’s main campus. HIV disease prevention interactive sessions, nutrition classes, problem-solving group sessions, parenting classes, domestic violence counseling, pre-natal and post-partum care, skill acquisitions, family counseling, and many more are services offered by the treatment center to clients in need of it.

An exercise room which is complete with a treadmill and elliptical is available to clients as it is greatly encouraged. Outdoor extracurricular activities such as running, walking, volleyball, and basketball are also available to clients. Although internet, laptops, and phones are not allowed, an entertainment room fully equipped with a television is available to clients, and visitors are only allowed to visit on Sundays.
