Overview of reStart

reStart is a rehabilitation center that helps individuals struggling with addictions of video games, social media, VR, and the Internet reconnect with their lives. The mission of reStart is to help individuals struggling with internet addiction and related issues restart their lives by promoting sustainable digital media use for people and the planet. The people at reStart believe that digital media addiction has underlying roots which need to be addressed in order to successfully heal the individuals. These underlying issues usually comprise family problems, childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other behavioral health disorders. At reStart, clients are provided with the opportunity to connect with integrative community service providers who help them foster healthier digital media usage. The center’s core values are accountability, health, respect, balance, courage, integrity, passion, and hope. Using these values, the credential staff helps clients reconnect with their lives and relationships. The center offers a number of treatment programs for adolescents aged 13-18 and adults aged 18 and above. The programs include life coaching, life skills experiential coaching, health and fitness, vocational training, and more. The 12-step Internet Addiction Anonymous meetings held under the Internet and Technology Addiction Anonymous (ITAA) Groups are also an integral part of the treatment at the center.

Housing and Food at reStart

reStart Heavensfield retreat is located in rural Fall City, Washington just 15 miles east of Microsoft. The campus covers an area of 5 acres of estate property which provides clients with a beautiful and natural rural setting. The residential building is nestled between manicured lawns, trees, pathways, and trails. The residence can accommodate eight clients at one time. Clients stay in double-occupancy rooms which are furnished with bunk beds, dressers, and side tables. The rooms are decorated and furnished to give a home-like feel to its residents. The house consists of a cozy and warm living room which is furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. A variety of books are provided on shelves in the living room and clients are encouraged to read them during their free time. There is an indoor gym at the center where clients can achieve physical fitness during their stay at the facility. The house also consists of a kitchen equipped with all basic appliances including a refrigerator and microwave oven. A chef prepares delicious and nutritious meals three times a day for residents. Meals are healthy and well-balanced and include vegetables and fruits. Sugar and processed foods are discouraged at the campus. All clients eat together in the dining room inside the house.

Payment Options at reStart

reStart offers premier treatment services for internet and digital media addiction to adolescents and adults. The cost of treatment is approximately $20,000 for 45 days duration. Unlike for drug and alcohol treatment, insurance companies do not offer plans to cover costs for treatment like that offered at reStart. To make the treatment affordable for indigent and needy clients, the center offers need-based scholarships to adolescents aged 13-17 and adults aged 18-30. These scholarships are awarded each year depending on the client’s needs and family income. The center also accepts donations to contribute to the scholarship fund which helps sponsor the treatment of many clients each year.
